Installation

eFloor Classic has been a favourite of our customers for many years. Ground workers and home builders who are familiar with the EPS flooring systems, vouch for the ease in which it can be installed.

Floorspan Contracts offer an installation service which is often the most cost-effective way of carrying out a project.

However, we are always on hand to offer advice and support to customers who decide to install eFloor Classic independently.

INSTALL GUIDE

  • Ensure all areas are clear of vegetation.
  • Ensure that the reduced internal soil levels are lower than the bottom of the installed panel and allows for sub floor ventilation. Remember – Panels can be up to 400mm thick (250 below beams).
  • Ensure adequate room is allowed over drainage pipes
  • Ventilators to be installed in the internal skin of all perimeter walls, positioned below the depth of the installed eFloor Classic panels.
  • Panels should be protected against the elements. Cover the panels with a plastic sheet or similar to keep them dry and away from direct sunlight.
  • Begin with the ‘Starter’ panel in each nay and work across in one direction.
  • The final cut panel can be made by cutting the smallest available panel to suit. The cut should not exceed 300mm and it may be that more than one row of the cut panels is taken from the same full panel. Beware of discarding panels before the floor is complete.
  • It may be necessary to spread the beams to allow installation of the panels
  • Ensure the beams and panels are tight fitting and there are no gaps present
  • It is vital that you carefully count the panels and check that all elements are present and correct.
  • We suggest a 75mm thick, C30 Concrete with polymeric mono-filament fibre reinforcement at a rate of 900 g/m3. Steel mesh can also be used. A maximum aggregate size of 10mm should be used. Do take advice from your third party designer/engineer or screed provider. 
  • When applying the screed avoid standing directly on the polystyrene panels. Use scaffold boards or sheets of plywood to spreed the load of the operatives over several beams.
  • If discharging directly from the ready mix truck position the chute as close to the floor as possible. Ensure screed is free flowing and is not allowed to heap up in the middle on the floor. 
  • Start from the corner of each nay and work towards the middle of the floor.
