A DAY IN THE LIFE OF CONTRACTS MANAGER MATT CROFTS
A typical day for Matt our Contracts Manager is a whirlwind of activity, packed with emails, calls, and constant problem-solving within the install and transport departments. With around 30 people under his supervision, there’s never a dull moment.
Juggling Multiple Responsibilities
One of the biggest challenges Matt faces is keeping everyone happy. “We have a lot of different departments, a lot of customers, a lot of staff, and it’s hard to keep everyone happy,” he explains. However, what fuels his drive is the spirit of competitiveness. “Every day, I come in and I just want to have a better day than the day before.”
FINDING ENERGY IN TEAMWORK
Matt’s team plays a crucial role in keeping him motivated. “The team around me energizes me. If I’m having a bit of a bad day, people around me bring the best out in me,” he shares. This positive energy is vital, especially on challenging days.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND MISCONCEPTIONS
One of Matt’s proudest achievements at Floorspan is earning his Level 5 NVQ in lifting operations. This qualification took three years to complete, and it’s a testament to his dedication and hard work. “If somebody dreams about being an AP, just go for it,” he encourages.
Matt also addresses a common misconception about his role: “People think you just sit in an office all day drinking coffee. They don’t realize how stressful it can be.” He recalls a particularly tough day with over 100 phone calls, ranging from customer praises to weather-related issues causing delays.
THE BEST PART: THE PEOPLE
Despite the challenges, Matt’s favourite part of his job is the people. “I love being around people, and we have some great people here at Floorspan,” he says with a smile. It’s clear that the camaraderie and support of his colleagues make all the hard work worthwhile.
